Gameplay
While Battlefield: 1942 has a single-player mode, it was made popular by its “pick-up-and-play” multiplayer environment. In the main gameplay mode, “Conquest,” up to 64 players at a time compete in a large WWII-style battlefield, full of all manner of weaponry: tanks, machine guns, helicopters, planes and other instruments of combat. The goal of the game is for your team to gain control of certain “control points” scattered throughout the battlefield. Any player can get inside of a tank, plane, or any other available means of conveyance, and attack other players with it. There are five different character classes to choose from, each with its own advantages: scout, assault, antitank, medic and engineer.
