Bang Stick

A bang stick is a specialized firearm that discharges a bullet at point-blank range, directly against the target. The device is used underwater, for hunting—and protection against—sharks and alligators.

On June 19, 2008, an eight-foot alligator was pursued by three policemen in a parking lot near Orlando, and bit one of them after the officer attempted to wrestle it. The gator withstood multiple gunshot wounds, but did not die until a trapper fired upon it with a bang stick.² Bang sticks are not intended for use out of water.
