Bali Bombers
Three Islamic militants were convicted of a deadly 2002 nightclub bombing in Bali, Indonesia, and sentenced to death in 2003. Imam Samudra, Amrozi Nurhasyim and Ali Ghufron were executed by firing squad on November 8, 2008. Officials confirmed local television reports saying the three were shot in the heart at the Nusakambangan prison where they had been held.1 2

Terror Threats Ahead of Executions
Authorities in Indonesia were reportedly investigating a series of terrorist threats made as the date for the Bali bombers' executions neared. According to reports, threats were made via text message against the U.S. and the Australian embassies. Security was stepped up at the embassies and across Indonesia in the wake of the threats.5
