Ashley McKathan
The ACLU has filed a complaint against Judge Ashley McKathan of Andalusia, Alabama, for ordering people in his courtroom to pray.1 In February 2008, while presiding over a lawsuit concerning a local church's financial records, McKathan allegedly dropped to his knees and ordered 100 people in attendance to pray with him.1

Faith and Justice
McKathan has a history of combining his religious and judicial activities. In December 2004, he appeared in court wearing a judge's robe embroidered with The Ten Commandments.2
In response to the 2008 ACLU complaint, McKathan stated, "Whatever comes of all that, I'll continue to have peace. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are called according to his purpose."1
