Aron Ralston

In May, 2003, Aron Ralston, an American mountain climber went out for a hike in Utah at the Blue John Canyon. While hiking a boulder fell and trapped his arm, crushing it underneath its weight. For five days he tried to free his arm by lifting the boulder or breaking it apart but with little success. By that time he was dehydrated and delirious and he bent his arms against a chockstone to break the radius and ulna bones. Once that was done he used his multiuse tool and cut his arm loose.

After Ralston was rescued park authorities retrieved his arm which was then cremated and given to him. He then returned to the boulder where his arm had been trapped and dispersed his ashes there.

Since Aron Ralston was rescued he has gone on to be a public speaker. He did not give up his joy for climbing and has managed to tackle a mountain in Argentina.

On April 14, 2008 Aron Ralston appeared on a segment of Today called, Lend a Hand, which is an annual event that Al Roker leads. Ralston appeared in conjunction with the Idaho Youth Ranch. Fast Facts:
