Armageddon

Storyline

After a meteor shower is reported all over the world, NASA scientists discover that there is an enormous asteroid on path to hit Earth in a matter of days. Regardless of where it hits, scientists predict complete destruction of the planet, a virtual second Ice Age. One NASA official suggests they blow the asteroid up from the inside, as shooting missiles at it would do no damage. If they were to drill to the center of the asteroid and detonate a nuclear weapon inside, the asteroid would split, and miss the Earth completely. As the only viable option, they agree to attempt the drilling, enlisting the best oil drillers on the planet for the job. The blue collar oil drilling team, led by Harry Stamper (Bruce Willis) undergo an intensive 12 day training for their space flight. The drillers, along with a special crew from NASA begin their journey to the massive rock traveling towards Earth. The mission has problems from the get go, but the men must carry on, as they are the only hope for saving mankind.
