Apple Spotlight on Notebooks Event Summary
- Apple's press event for their notebook computers, the MacBook Pro, the MacBook Air and the MacBook, started at 10 a.m. Pacific time on Tuesday, October 14, 2008.
- Tim Cook got up to discuss the "state of the Mac," and outlined its phenomenal worldwide success. Jonathan Ive talked about the manufacturing process that was developed during the design of the MacBook Air. This is the "brick" process that has been talked about for weeks, finally explained. The method of carving the entire case out of a single piece of aluminum enables it to be very strong and very light. The technology is now being applied to the MacBook Pro and MacBook computers.

- The Apple Cinema Display, $899. It has a 24 inch glass screen and will be available in November.
- The next generation MacBook. The new version costs $1299 or $1599 and comes with a 13.3 inch screen.
- A video was then shown further detailing the so-called "brick" manufacturing process.
- At the end of the presentation, Jobs made a joke about his health, then took a brief round of questions from the audience.
