Chakvetadze and her parents were robbed at their home in Russia on December 18, 2007. Although no one was injured, the suspects stole over $200,000.2

Tennis Career
Chakvetadze played in her first International Tennis Federation tournament in 2001. She won her first major title in 2002, on the doubles circuit. Chakvetadze turned pro the following year and went on to finish in the top 50 for the first time in 2005. She continued to improve, finishing the 2006 season in 20th place and winning her first Women's Tennis Association singles title.4 During the 2007 season, Chakvetadze peaked at fifth place in September after reaching the quarterfinals at the Australian Open and the semifinals at the U.S. Open.1
