Animal Crossing: City Folk is a virtual life game exclusively for the Wii and was officially announced during Nintendo's keynote event at E3 on July 15, 2008.¹ Nintendo has confirmed the release date for the game: November 16, 2008.²

Animal Crossing: City Folk allows players to immerse themselves in a fully-functional virtual world, custom-create a character and build a town of their own. Players can visit each other in the game at their own personal homes in multiplayer mode. Some of the available character customizations include hair, fashion and masks.⁴

Animal Crossing: City Folk supports voice chat features with the Wii Speak microphone peripheral device.⁴ The Wii Speak functionality was demoed during Nintendo's keynote at E3 2008, showing players chatting with each other in real time while fishing. Wii Speak will also be compatible with cell phones and message boards.⁵
