The Santa Monica Born Brunette started her successful career as the immensely popular Emily Bowen-Quartermaine on the hit soap opera General Hospital. A role which she portrayed for six years.
She followed up that success with a film role in the movie The Ring starring Naomi Watts and various guest appearances in television shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Boston Public, and CSI: Miami.
In 2003, she was the title character in the surprise hit network television drama Joan of Arcadia. For her performance she was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2004 for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, as well as a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series- Drama. When the show continued to run for several years, it increased her star profile and propelled her to leading lady status.
She has since starred in several motion pictures such as The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants with America Ferrera Alexis Bledel, and Blake Lively, as well as the horror film The Grudge 2 with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Arielle Kebbel.
In 2008, she can be seen again as Tibby in the sequel to the teen drama The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.
