Amanda Beard
Amanda Beard is an American Olympic swimming medalist and model. Beard has won two gold medals, four silver medals, and one bronze medal over three separate Olympiads. She competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics, but placed sixth in the preliminary heat of the 200-meter breaststroke event and did not qualify for the finals.1
Beard made news in August of 2008 after rumors circulated that she was romantically linked to fellow swimmer Michael Phelps. Beard responded by dissing Phelps in a radio interview, saying "Eww, thats nasty."2

Career
At the age of 14, Beard qualified for the 1996 United States Olympic Swimming Team, and she delivered. She won gold in the 4 x 100 medley and silver in the 100 meter breaststroke and 200 meter breaststroke. In 2000, she won the bronze in the 200 meter breaststroke, and followed that up by winning three more medals in the 2004 games, capturing gold in the 200 meter breaststroke, and silver in the 200 meter medley and 4 x 100 medley. To help supplement her income, Beard has taken modeling assignments, appearing in the 2006 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and the July 2007 edition of Playboy. She has also served as a correspondent on the FOX Sports cable show Best Damn Sports Show Period.
