Alexis Herman

Alexis Herman is the co-chairperson of the Democratic National Committee's Rules and Bylaws Committee. She shares the position with James Roosevelt, Jr.. Herman also serves on the advisory boards for several major corporations, including Toyota and Coca-Cola.

Political Origins

Herman began her career with the Democratic Party in 1977 when Jimmy Carter selected her to serve as his Director of the Labor Department's Women's Bureau. She went on to serve as Secretary of Labor during Bill Clinton's second term.

Bribery Scandal

Herman came under investigation for allegedly taking bribes between 1994 and 1996, while she was serving as an aide to Clinton. In 2000, the investigation determined that Herman broke no laws and no indictment was made.²
