Attractions

The Sequoyah Caverns and Ellis Homestead, located in Valley Head, Alabama, is "something for everyone to enjoy."¹ There are daily guides tours that lead visitors through the underground caverns, filled with "reflection pools" and "fascinating" pathways.² The site has a "great" camping area and the underground caverns are filled with "amazing" rock formations.³

State Park

When traveling in Alabama, be sure to visit the Historic Blakeley State Park, which offers a little bit of history, as well as a variety of wildlife, plants and even camping areas and events. Fort Blakeley was the place where the last battle of the Civil War took place. The park is filled with "earthen forts" and "old rifle pits," that cover over "3,800 acres" of land.⁴ as of 1995, the Blakeley park was added to the "Civil War Discovery Trail," which is a system of about 300 sites in 16 states that educates a promotes the experiences of the Civil War and the impact it had on American society.⁵
