Guide Note
Against Me! is a popular punk band from Gainesville, Florida, that formed in 1997 and released its major label debut, New Wave, a decade later. The band's adoption of folk, folk-rock and Country influences—including Billy Bragg and Johnny Cash—had a profound effect on the underground punk landscape of the late-1990s, through to the late 2000s. Like-minded acts such as This Bike is a Pipe Bomb and Ghost Mice continue to play in a style similar to that of Against Me!'s earlier work, while the band itself has moved on to a harder sound, with elements of post-punk.
