Adam Cook is the brother of American Idol contender David Cook. The 36-year-old Cook is battling brain cancer, which has reportedly spread to his spine. He has been undergoing chemotherapy treatments for the past several months.

Despite his illness, Cook was able to attend the Idol finale on May 21, 2008 to see his brother win the competition. He and wife Kendra Cook flew to Los Angeles from their home in Terre Haute, Indiana on a private plane. Reports say the flight was paid for by an anonymous private donation.

Cook was able to see his brother compete twice during the season. In April of 2008, Cook flew to California on a chartered medical jet with medical staff handy. The flight was paid for by his friends and a local councilman. A local radio station provided a paid hotel stay across the street from the studio where Idol tapes.

Cook was first diagnosed with brain cancer in 1998. He is currently battling his second diagnosis of cancer which has spread to his spine and brain.

Cook was a lawyer up until his condition worsened. Cook was sick in bed before the news that he would be able to see his brother play.
