Accelerated Composites
Accelerated Composites is a small company, based in San Diego California, that has reportedly developed a 230 mpg
hybrid vehicle. The two-seat vehicle, called the
Aptera, is currently a prototype. The retail version, scheduled to be introduced to the market in late 2008, will initially only be available to residents of California. Apteras can be
reserved for a down-payment of $500. According to the company, the Aptera's fuel efficiency is due largely to a lightweight
composite construction and aerodynamic design.
