American film actress Abigail Breslin was first seen in M. Night Shyamalan's Signs. Her most notable performance was starring in the 2006 film Little Miss Sunshine.
Background
Abigail Kathleen Breslin was born in New York City on April 14, 1996. Her mother, Kim is her manager and her father Michael is a telecommunications expert, computer programmer and consultant. Breslin has two older brothers, Spencer and Ryan.
Early Work
Breslin first appeared in a television commercial for Toys R Us when she was just three years old. In 2002 she was cast to play Mel Gibson's young daughter in the science fiction movie Signs. In 2004 Breslin and her brother Spencer played siblings in the movie Raising Helen which starred Kate Hudson.
Major Roles
In 2006, Breslin was picked to star in the comedy Little Miss Sunshine as a beauty pageant contestant. In 2007 she received a received a Screen Actors Guild Award Nomination, as well as an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role, becoming became the fourth youngest actress to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2008 Breslin starred in Kit Kittredge: An American Girl which is expected to be released on June 2, 2008.
Other Work
Breslin played the neice of Catherine Zeta-Jones in the 2007 film No Reservations in which she loses her mother and has to go live with her aunt who is a chef. She also starred alongside Jodie Foster in the film Nim's Island in 2008.
