Backup to Favre
Aaron Rogers was drafted by the Packers in 2005 to be the eventual successor to Brett Favre. The Packers went 4-12 during the 2005 season with Rodgers spending most of his time on the bench. Favre decided to return in 2006, leaving Rodgers to resume his backup role. Rodgers again saw very little playing time and suffered a broken ankle against the New England Patriots on November 19, forcing him to miss the rest of the season.2
Favre again returned for the 2007 season as the starting quarterback. Rogers continued to play backup, throwing his first touchdown pass in a game against the Dallas Cowboys.2
With the retirement of Brett Favre following the 2007 season, Rodgers is now the starting quarterback for the Packers beginning in 2008.2
