On September 11, 2001, almost 3,000 people were killed in the worst terrorist attack on American soil in U.S. history. Nearly 3,000 people died when planes crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon. The passengers on United Airlines Flight 93 were killed when the plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania, missing its intended target.
