On September 11th, 2001, four American jets were hijacked and used as weapons against the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. On the morning of September 11th, two planes crashed into the World Trade Towers, one into the Pentagon and the fourth into a field in rural Pennsylvania. World Trade Center building 7 also collapsed hours after the planes crashed into the towers.

World Trade Center Attacks
The first of the hijacked planes crashed into the World Trade Center North Tower, and was originally believed to be an accident. Less than 20 minutes later when a second plane crashed into the South Tower, it was understood that this was a deliberate attack. WTC 7 collapsed hours after WTC 1 and WTC 2 were hit.
The Pentagon and United 93
Just over 30 minutes later the third jet crashed into The Pentagon. The final hijacked jet, United Flight 93, was en route to San Francisco International Airport from New Jersey when passengers attempted to overtake the terrorists. It was speculated that the hijackers were attempting to crash into the The White House, but crashed the jet into rural Pennsylvania after the attempted passenger revolt.
