  48 Hours Mystery is the latest incarnation of the CBS network's prime-time news magazine. Originally, 48 Hours literally tracked their subject for forty eight hours. Gradually, the show focused more and more on crime stories and disregarded the time restraint,eventually resulting in this version of the show.
