48 Hours Mystery is an American documentary news television program from the CBS television network. It is hosted bty that originally focused on a 48 hour slice of a subject and edited it into a one hour television news program. Today the show still focuses on a single subject but doesn't limit itself to just 48 hours.

48 Hours Mystery is the latest incarnation of the CBS network's prime-time news magazine. Originally, 48 Hours literally tracked their subject for forty eight hours. Gradually, the show focused more and more on crime stories and disregarded the time restraint,eventually resulting in this version of the show. -
