30 Seconds to Mars is a goth-tinged Alternative Rock band from Los Angeles, California, led by frontman and actor Jared Leto. The band was formed in 1998, by Leto and his brother Shannon. It is now made up of both Leto brothers and Tomo Milicevic. Former member, Mike Wachter, left the group in 2007.
Their first album, 30 Seconds to Mars, was released in 2002. Their second was leaked five months early. To counteract the release, they added two bonus tracks and golden tickets that would allow two lucky fans the opportunity to go to any 30 Seconds to Mars concert for free. In addition, whomever received thee tickets would get to backstage passes. They are scheduled to begin work on their third studio album during the summer of 2008.
The band's singles include "Capricorn (A Brand New Name)," "Edge of the Earth," "Attack," "The Kill (Bury Me)" and "A Beautiful Lie."

2010 MTV Music Video Awards
30 Seconds to Mars was the 2010 MTV Music Video Award winner for the Best Rock Video category. Announced on September 12, 2010, the group's video for "Kings and Queens" topped other nominees Florence and the Machine, MGMT, Muse , and Paramore. "Kings and Queens" is a single on the album by the same name, which released in 2010.
According to Jared Leto half of the song was written in America and the other half in South Africa. Leto wrote the first verse before leaving for South Africa and the remainder after he landed.c
