    • Invented in Minnesota
    • Introduced in 1932
    • First priced at 5 cents per bar
    • Original had 3 small bars (chocolate, vanilla and strawberry) in one
    • 3 bars switched to just chocolate in 1945
  • 3 Musketeers is a chocolate and nougat-based candy bar, manufactured by Mars, Incorporated.

In the original inception of the chocolate bar, it was marketed as one of the largest chocolate bars available, one that could be shared by multiple friends.

  • 3 Musketeers Name

As the original bar had three flavors incorporated into a single bar, it was named 3 Musketeers to represent this distinction. Alexandre Dumas's Three Musketeers characters have been used sparingly in the snacks advertisements and has never been a steady feature of the bar's history.
  • The Making of the Candy

According to the office 3 Musketeers website, the nougat center is produced first, formed into large slabs and cut into smaller pieces, after which they are "enrobed" with chocolate. Another layer of chocolate coats the top and side portions of the bar, after which the product is cooled and wrapped.

The company also offers 3 Musketeers Mint bars.
