Pro Bowl Player Selection
In the Pro Bowl, the two conferences in the National Football League, the National Football Conference and the American Football Conference play against one another. On each team, offense members include four wide receivers, two tight ends, three tackles, three guards, two centers, three quarterbacks, three running backs and one fullback. Defensive members include three ends, three interior linemen, three outside linebackers, two inside/middle linebackers, three cornerbacks and three safeties. On special teams, each conference is allowed one punter, one placekicker, one kick returner, one special teamer and one additional needed player as deemed necessary by the coach of each squad.http://www.nfl.com/probowl/story/09000d5d81b9b5b4/article/2011-pro-bowl-balloting-begins-on-nflcom
Prior to 2010, the Pro Bowl was played one week after the Super Bowl, but that changed in 2010 when the game was held the immediate Sunday before the Super Bowl. Because of a risk of injury and time away from their regular teams, players scheduled to participate in the Super Bowl are excluded from playing in the Pro Bowl.http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/010309dnmetprobowl.36e39e5.html
