The winners of well over 100 awards were announced at the 2011 Grammy Awards held on February 13, 2011, at 8:00 p.m. EST. The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, and aired live on CBS.1 The nominations for all of the 2011 Grammy Awards were announced on December 2, 2011.2
Among the nominees include rapper Eminem who leads all others in total nominations by receiving 10 including nods for Record of the Year and Album of the Year. Bruno Mars had seven nominations, second to Eminem, while rapper Jay-Z, country music group Lady Antebellum and pop singer Lady Gaga received six nominations each.3

Lady Antebellum, Arcade Fire and Lady Gaga were among the night's biggest winners at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, which aired live on CBS last night. Grammy Awards Categories
Of the 109 Grammy Awards for the 2011 season include four general awards for the top artists and recordings of the year. Record of the Year names the top track or single of the year, with the award going to the artist, producer, recording engineer and mixer. The Song of the Year category is similar, selecting the top track, but is awarded to the songwriter responsible for the work. Open to vocal and instrumental albums, Album of the Year is awarded to the artist, producer, engineer and mixer.
