2010 Chevrolet Camaro

Guide Note:

General Motors has announced plans for production of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro to start on February 16, 2009 at GM’s Oshawa plant in Ontario, Canada. This should put the first production vehicles in Chevy dealer’s showrooms by mid-March. However should the Camaro program hit any snags during testing and development this production date is subject to change. Production of Camaro convertibles is not scheduled to start until December 7, 2009, apparently targeting the spring 2010 selling season.

No engine configurations have been announced by GM, but the 240 HP, 3.9 liter, LZ8 V6 and the 300 HP, 5.3 liter, LH6 V8 are generally considered the most likely candidates. Comments by Robert Lutz, GM’s VP for Product Development, indicate that both a four-cylinder turbocharged and all new 500 HP V8 are also under consideration as performance options.

GM has stated a first year sales goal of 100,000 units, with the V6 base model expected to be priced around $20,000 dollars.
