Held yearly, the Streamy Awards is an internet-streamed awards show that honors "excellence in original web television programing".http://www.streamys.org/about/ Unlike most other awards shows, the Streamys only nominates online shows that were created specifically for viewing on the web. In addition, the awards show itself is broadcast live onto the internet. The categories awarded are similar to traditional awards shows, however. Some of these categories include: (Excellence In) Performance, Directing, Writing, Editing, Visual Effects, and Sound.

Having had the first Streamy Awards show last year, the 2010 Streamy Awards represented the show's second-year anniversary. After receiving suggestions from the public during the initial submission process each year, the Streamy winners are determined by tallying votes from members of the International Academy of Web Television. The official Streamys website describes this group of voting members as one consisting of "online entertainment professionals, including actors, agents, composers, content creators, directors, journalists, producers, technology innovators and writers".http://www.streamys.org/about/
