2010 NFL Week 17 Picks

Week 17 of the 2010 National Football League season is the last of the regular-season weeks in which experts from around the league will make their picks. The 2010 NFL season wraps up in week 17 as all 16 games take place on Sunday, January 2, 2010. Games begin at 1:00 p.m. EST and continue through the Sunday night game, which features the St. Louis Rams visiting the Seattle Seahawks playing at 8:20 p.m. EST.c

Week 17 also marks the final game for teams to lock up a position in the 2010-11 NFL Playoffs. Through 16 weeks of play, five-of-six spots in the AFC are filled with one remaining. Things are a bit more open in the NFC with only four-of-six playoff berths clinched and five teams vying for those final two spots in the NFL Playoff picture.c

Week 17 Sunday Games

Only three games feature two teams who are both statistically eliminated from the playoffs. Those contests include the Minnesota Vikings visiting the Detroit Lions, the San Diego Chargers traveling to play the Denver Broncos and the San Francisco 49ers hosting the Arizona Cardinals. Similarly, only two games include two teams that have both either secured a spot in the playoffs or still alive to clinch a position. Those games feature the New Orleans Saints welcoming the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Chicago Bears heading on the road to meet the Green Bay Packers. Chicago clinched the NFC North Division while Green Bay is still fighting for their spot.c c

In other contests, the New England Patriots host the Miami Dolphins, the Buffalo Bills visit the New York Jets, the Cincinnati Bengals play at the Baltimore Ravens, the Pittsburgh Steelers go on the road to play the Cleveland Browns, the Kansas City Chiefs invite the Oakland Raiders, the Atlanta Falcons welcome the Carolina Panthers and the Jacksonville Jaguars travel to meet the Houston Texans. Additionally, the Dallas Cowboys play at the Philadelphia Eagles, the New York Giants visit the Washington Redskins and the Indianapolis Colts host the Tennessee Titans.c
