The 74th Masters golf Tournament will begin on April 5 and run though April 11, 2010. The Tournament will take place at the Augusta National Golf Course located in Augusta, Georgia.http://www.masters.com/en_US/index.html
The Masters Tournament is well known for awarding the winner with a green suit jacket. In addition, the tournament is the only major held at the same course every year—the Augusta National Golf Course. Any winner of the Masters automatically has a lifetime invitation to play in the tournament again in the future.
Each year there are four major golf tournaments and the Masters, because it is held in April, is typically considered the first of these four major tours. The three remaining major tours include the United States Open, the British Open and the PGA Championship. Legendary golfer, Bobby Jones, helped in the design of the Augusta National Golf Course. Jones is credited with having brought the Masters Tournament into existence.
The Return of Tiger Woods
The 2010 Masters Tournament marks the return of Tiger Woods after his stay at sex rehab for a number of weeks. Woods checked into rehab following his November 27, 2009 incident involving him possibly being under the influence of some drugs and the car accident he caused as a result.
Tiger Woods' return to professional golf at the 2010 Masters Tournament is expected to draw a large number of viewers. Tiger Woods attracted just over 20 million viewers back in 1997 when he won that year's Masters Tournament.http://youbeenblinded.com/tiger-woods-back-to-golf-in-3-d-at-2010-masters/6453 Some news outlets have also wondered whether Tiger's return might attract more viewers then President Obama's inauguration.
A few days prior to the start of the 2010 Masters Tournament, Nike released a new Tiger Woods commercial featuring the voice of his father, Earl Woods. Tiger's dad died in May of 2006 at age 74.http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/article.aspx?articleID=070803_2_B1_hPlay11047 The commercial alludes to Tiger's recent allegations of infidelity by way of his father's voice seemingly asking Tiger a couple of questions. Tiger appears in the clip wearing a Nike-embroidered shirt and cap, but does never actually speaks himself.
