2009 World Series MVP

  • New York Yankees designated hitter Hideki Matsui was named the 2009 World Series MVP. Matsui batted .615 during the series and had 6 RBIs in series-clinching Game 6, tying a World Series record. Matsui is the first full-time designated hitter to win the award and is the first Japanese citizen to win the award.
