Guide Note: The 2008 Mississippi Primary, also known as the Delta Primary, was held on March 11, 2008, to allocate the state's 33 Democratic and 38 Republican delegates. It was the only primary held that day. The polls were open from 7 am until 7 pm, and though John McCain had already won enough delegates to take the Republican nomination, the Mississippi vote may prove important in the Democratic race, a rarity for the state. McCain and Barack Obama were the winners.
