65 Democratic delegates were at stake and polls showed that Senator Barack Obama was always favorite to win the state.
Several reports suggested that even if Obama wins in Oregon, he won't declare the Democratic nomination race to be over despite his numerically superior position over rival Hillary Clinton.
Kentucky held its primary on May 20, a contest that Clinton won by a landslide.

- 18-29 year olds: 71% voted for Obama; 29% for Clinton
- 30-44 year olds: 62% voted for Obama; 38% for Clinton
- 45-59 year olds: 54% voted for Obama; 45% for Clinton
- 60 and over: 44% voted for Obama; 55% for Clinton

- Federal Gas Tax: 65% of Clinton voters support suspension, as opposed to 35% of Obama voters
- 90% of Obama supporters said they would not be satisfied with a Clinton nomination
- 57% of Obama supporters said they would be happy with either candidate's nomination, as opposed to 43% of Clinton supporters

Polls varied in in the days leading up to the Oregon primary. Some polls gave Obama as much as a 10% lead over Clinton, while others trimmed that lead to just four percentage points.
