The 46th annual NHL Draft took place on June 20th and 21st 2008, at the Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, Canada. Each of the 30 National Hockey League teams took turns selecting amateur players to join their franchises. A total of 211 players were selected over seven rounds.
The Tampa Bay Lightning selected Canadian center Steven Stamkos first overall. The draft was televised live on Versus, TSN, NHL Radio and on NHL.com.
