The 2008 NBA Playoffs will decide the league champion of the 2007-2008 NBA season. The Eastern Conference Champions, the Boston Celtics, play the Western Conference Champions, the Los Angeles Lakers, in the 2008 NBA Finals.

Following the regular season, the three divisional champions in each conference are automatically placed in the top three seeds. The fourth team is the runner up, behind the divisional champions, with the fifth through eight seeds based on regular season standings. The first seed team plays the eighth, second seed plays the seventh and so on.

Each series consists of seven games, with the higher seeded team earning home court advantage in games one, two, five and seven. The team that wins four of the seven possible games moves on to the next round. There are three rounds leading up to the NBA Finals.
