Hillary Clinton was declared the winner very soon after polls closed. When all the results were in, Clinton won by 65% to Obama's 30%.

- 57% of the voters were women
- 89% of the voters were white
- Clinton prevailed among all age, income and education categories
- Obama was more popular amongst those who thought Clinton's proposal to suspend the federal gas tax was a bad idea
