The 2008 Daytona 500 was the 50th running of what is known to auto racing fans as both " The Great American Race" and the "Super Bowl of NASCAR". The Daytona 500 is the first race of the NASCAR season.
Qualifying
Race qualifying is a 4-pronged process:
- Top 35 from 2007 race are exempt
- Front Row determined by time trials
- Majority of positions determined by Daytona Twin 150s
- Final spots past champions and non-exempt qualifiers
