The 2007 Nobel Prize for literature was awarded to Doris Lessing. Lessing is the British author of such works as: The Grass is Singing, The Golden Notebook and Memoirs of a Survivor.

3. Her autobiography, Walking in the Shade was nominated for the 1997 National Book Critics Circle Award
