The year 2000 was designated World Mathematical Year and also International year for the culture of peace. During the year America Online announced an agreement to purchase Time Warner for $162 billion, Windows 2000 was released and Microsoft is ruled to have put an oppressive thumb on it's competitors.
Brazil celebrated it's 500th anniversary, India reaches 1 billion population, and France win Euro 2000. The Olympics are held in Sydney, Australia. In Politics, George Bush controversially wins the closest ever American Presidential election over Al Gore and the world population continues to rise and goes past 6 billion people for the first time.
