  • Career

2 Live Crew was founded by Mr Mixx, Fresh Kid Ice and Amazing Vee while they were in the U.S. Air Force together. Their first single, Revelation, was released in 1984 and due to the song's success in Florida caused the group to move to Miami and join up with rapper/manager Luther Campbell. In 1990, a controversy was created when a judge ruled the songs on the album As Nasty As They Wanna Be were obscene and retailers of the album were arrested. 2 Live Crew also faced chargeds for attempting to perform the song at a concert. The original ruling was eventually overturned and the album's final sales were over 2 million copies.
