13 Ghosts

13 Ghosts is a remake of the 1960 William Castle horror film of the same name. 13 Ghosts was directed by Steve Beck and released on October 26, 2001. Critics gave 13 Ghosts a low to average rating.

13 Ghosts is about a family who inherits a house from an eccentric uncle. The house, being made almost entirely of glass, proves to be haunted. Upon the families inspection of the house there is 12 angry spirits trapped inside. The family becomes trapped inside of the house and the race is on to save themselves before the ghosts destroy them.

The experience of watching the film is literally painful. It hurts the eyes and ears. Aware that their story was thin, that their characters were constantly retracing the same ground and repeating the same words, that the choppy editing is visually incoherent, maybe the filmmakers thought if they turned up the volume the audience might be deceived into thinking that something was happening. — Roger Ebert
