10,000 Maniacs is an alternative rock band formed in Jamestown in 1981. It was originally formed by Natalie Merchant and guitarist John Lombardo. The group perform extensively and recorded independently. Several of their albums made it to the charts. In 1993, their best-known member, Natalie Merchant, decided to pursue a solo career. The remaining 10,000 Maniacs decided to continue performing and released several albums.
